



Regional Judges: Susan Goldberg
Susan Goldberg ![]() Susan Goldberg was named editor of The Plain Dealer in May of 2007. Prior to that she was the executive editor of the San Jose Mercury News from 2003-2007, after working as managing editor at the paper for four years. From 1989-1999, Goldberg worked at USA Today, serving as a deputy managing editor of the News, Life and Enterprise sections. Previously she worked as a reporter and editor at the Detroit Free Press. She began her career as a reporter at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. A Michigan native, Goldberg has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University. She was a member of the San Jose Rotary Club and served on the city's Sunshine Reform Task Force, charged with creating a law to give citizens better access to meetings and records. She is co-chair of the Medill School of Journalism's Board of Visitors at Northwestern University. Goldberg is on the board of the American Society of Newspaper Editors. She lives in Cleveland Heights with her husband, Geoffrey Etnire, a real estate attorney. They have a son, Colin. |
